What are omega-3 fatty acids?

Let’s start from the beginning and explain what omega-3 fatty acids actually are. They are healthy fats that play a key role in our body. They belong to essential nutrients, meaning the body cannot produce them on its own, so we must obtain them through food or supplements. The most important omega-3s include EPA (eicosapentaenoic) and DHA (docosahexaenoic), which contribute to the health of the heart, brain, eyesight and help to reduce inflammation in the body.

Fish oil or the classic

Fish oil comes from the fatty tissues of oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, or sardines. Products containing omega-3 fatty acids often contain fish oil, which is rich in them. It mainly contains two important omega-3 acids – EPA (eicosapentaenoic) and DHA (docosahexaenoic), which we already mentioned in the introduction.
