Shungite stones for purification

Shungite is a mineral more than two billion years old, and its occurrence is limited exclusively to the Karelia region in northwestern Russia. It contains unique carbon structures called fullerenes, which attract the attention of scientists as well as people who work with the energy of a space.

What makes shungite so unique?

Thanks to its unique structure shungite can very effectively absorb and capture unwanted particles from the environment. It naturally binds various impurities, whether in water or in the air, and it is often claimed that it can reduce the impact of substances such as free radicals, heavy metals, traces of chemicals, or organic impurities.

Thanks to its composition, shungite is popular for many features:

• it helps calm the environment and creates a more pleasant atmosphere
  • it is sought after for working with spatial energy and grounding
  • it is valued as a natural material also suitable for traditional water conditioning
  • it blends easily into any interior, from homes to work spaces

Unlike processed shungite items, loose stones are left in their natural, raw form. Each piece therefore carries its own texture, shapes, and small irregularities, which prove its purely natural origin. 

How to use shungite stones?

Shungite stones are among the most flexible forms of this unique mineral. They can be freely placed in a space, added to water, or combined with other natural stones to harmonize the environment. They are ideal for places where you rest, work, study, or spend longer periods of time, as they can help you shift into calm so you feel much more comfortable.

• Home and work spaces: help create a pleasant and calm atmosphere.
  • On a desk: support concentration and a sense of balance.
  • In the bedroom: contribute to relaxed and undisturbed energy.
  • Water conditioning: after rinsing, place the stones in a carafe and let them work for a few hours, which gently conditions the water.
  • Meditation and energy work: the stones can serve as a grounding and stabilizing element.

Each shungite stone is unique, as it differs in shape, size, and surface structure, which underlines its authentic and natural character.

Preparing shungite water

Before you start shungite using it to condition water, it is recommended to first:

• rinse the stones thoroughly with lukewarm water to remove small impurities and dust from the surface
• then you can place them in a glass carafe at a ratio of approximately 100 grams of shungite per liter of water
• already within the first hour, the stone starts interacting with the water; for the full effect, however, let the mixture stand for at least 24 hours

Stones can be reused; after each refill of water, they restart their filtering process. To help shungite retain its properties even with long-term use, it is advisable to clean it regularly and recharge it energetically.

Cleaning and recharging shungite

To maintain its quality, it is ideal to perform cleaning at least once a month. Immerse the stones for 2–3 hours in a bowl of water with a little kitchen salt, which helps neutralize collected impurities. Then rinse them well under running water and let them dry naturally. If you want to support the effect even more, you can expose shungite to daylight. A short recharge in the sun will give it new energy and prepare it for the next use.

Do not throw away used stones

If shungite grit is no longer suitable for preparing water, it still has its use. It works great as a natural soil additive and can help with aeration, moisture retention, and a better environment for roots. Simply sprinkle it around plants or add it to the substrate and let nature do its work.
